Rohrig Constructions has been able to tick two things off Yamba’s wishlist this Christmas! We’ve been in the northern NSW coastal town to construct a new family leisure centre for Yamba Bowling Club, which has just been completed, plus we’ve contributed to the giant Christmas tree the town has always wanted.
Our project there involved working closely with the Yamba Bowling Club on a design and construct basis helping them to develop the concept and then build their exciting new family facilities. The $3 million project includes four lanes of 10-pin bowling, an 18-hole mini-golf course, a traverse climbing wall, 35 new car parking spaces and renovated toilets.
In keeping with the town’s role as a family holiday destination, this unusual type of development for a club has created an attractive family entertainment venue, not just a place of gaming, food and beverage.
To thank the Yamba community for making our team so welcome during the project, we donated $4000 to help the Yamba Chamber of Commerce buy the 7 metre Christmas tree they’ve been wanting for many years as a focal point for the community Christmas spirit as well as to welcome the many visitors who come for their Christmas holidays.
Rohrig construction manager John Demnar said community is always important for Rohrig when we work in regional areas.
"We always like to try and give back and support the community, as well as working with as many local subbies and suppliers as we can.”
"We thought the tree was a great idea because it coincides with the finish of the job, and hopefully leaves a bit of a legacy as well.”
Site Manager, Mitch Muir, paid tribute to the extreme friendliness of the locals and the great welcome everyone had received in town.
He and the rest of the team are looking forward to coming back with their families and buckets and spades in the near future!
Yamba Chamber of Commerce president Sue Hughes said the Christmas tree wouldn't have happened without the donation.
“The new tree will be a fixture each year, rolled out for Christmas… Without this generous donation, our dreams of providing a special centre-piece to our Christmas celebrations would not be possible.”
Rohrig is delighted to have made a difference and wishes Yamba – and all of our clients, partners and suppliers – a very happy festive season.
