A new Asian restaurant and Pavilion are the latest attractions at St John’s Park Bowling Club and are the fourth consecutive project that Rohrig has undertaken for the ever-popular and ever-innovative club.
When Chinese lion dancers and hundreds of guests attended the gala opening event in early September, it marked the successful completion of a project that further extended the club’s eclectic range of dining facilities.
For Rohrig, this project was a return to a client that has come to trust our collaborative approach and ability to help them create highly attractive, profitable, functional spaces without disturbing ‘business as usual’.
On both of the last two projects, we worked on a ‘Design and Construct’ basis, allowing us to add long-term value to many aspects of the planned expansion.
Working with both club management and the operator of the Xi Yan restaurant, we were able to design and road-test all the food and beverage spaces ensuring they fulfilled the brief for the quality restaurant and its special features while leaving the club the flexibility to meet different dining needs in future.
The site for the restaurant, which was previously the bistro, has been totally transformed with an extension, high-end timber and glass finishes, full-service bar, oyster shucking bar, live seafood tanks, seafood preparation area, open-to-kitchen viewing and three private dining areas with sliding timber screens.
Outside we created a new pavilion, bar with coloured LED backlighting, water feature, seating and garden areas. We also installed services for future development without disturbing any of the existing ground floor building.
As always, there were interesting technical challenges to overcome but nothing that couldn’t be handled by our project team, who were delighted to be working with the club again.
Our previous projects for the club included Alfresco Gaming, Premium Gaming, Bowlers’ Lounge, Sports Bar, Porte Cochere and Entry, Patisserie, and Swish Pub Grub & Pizza Restaurant.
The transformations at St John’s Park Bowling Club are a wonderful demonstration of what can be achieved with a collaborative relationship between a forward-thinking club and construction leaders who understand the hospitality sector and always consider best long-term value.
Rohrig is delighted to support the club with sponsorship of their SES Bowls Day and other fundraising events for their affiliated community sporting clubs.
